Nokia has requested International Trade Commission to investigate into Apple’s infringement of its patents. The Finnish giant believes that as much as 7 patents of the Company have been infringed by the iPhone maker and thus using its innovations in almost every key feature of cellphones. We know that looks pretty aggressive. Well, It is and its okay and one needs to be when the scale and the stakes are so high. No?
Depth of the violation claimed by the Nokia can be assessed from a statement by Nokia, in which it said that ‘These patented technologies are important to Nokia's success as they allow better user experience, lower manufacturing costs, smaller size and longer battery life for Nokia products’. Oh! And I thought iPhone had better user interface, keeping mum on other things. But now it seems it was a breach turned into something better, much better. Well, as long as infringement brings butter ‘read as better’ to the consumers, I don’t mind it at all. With all respect to Nokia, I hope my opinion doesn’t matter. Oh yes, my readers are exception. Always. Right? Thanks for agreeing.
Lets move forward and have a word on what Paul Melin, GM, Nokia Patent Licensing said. He claims that the compliant filed today with ITC ‘is about Apple's practice of building its business on Nokia's proprietary innovation’. Simply, that’s eating into another’s business and very rudely, when they know or believe into it. And that too, in such a patented world. Well that will of course invite such investigation. Sorry, only my view.
So, for me it seems very funny how such giant companies, whom I highly admire, catfight with each other claiming their businesses and the very basics that made them so great to be stolen (Read. infringed) by the other one. I don’t get it. Really! Can any company be so clever to stole a giant’s business.
I really cannot figure out what N97 and iPhone would look like if all those features claimed as ‘infringement’ were to be removed from them. I am sure it would be far from better. OK, leave that behind and do not trouble yourself with that. And we promise to bring to you whatever is next in this Apple-Nokia-Apple battle. Surely.
